Jorge Pinto

Founder of Jorge Pinto Books Inc.  He also has a bimonthly column, Business and Books at the Financial Section of El Universal, a leading Mexican daily. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondo de Cultura Económica. Until recently he edited a business and finance book collection published by Turner Books in Spain and Océano in Mexico. He also published a series of political and economic classics and is the author of several anthologies on social and political issues.

Prior to starting his own company and becoming a think-tank Director at Pace University Center for Global Finance, Ambassador Pinto was the Mexican Consul General in New York.  He has given lectures and news interviews on many issues related to the Global economy, corporate governance, entrepreneurial trends and US-Mexico Relations. As Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Pinto was Chief Mexican negotiator for the Miami Summit of the Americas in 1994.  Amb. Pinto served as Mexican Ambassador to Sweden, as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Mexican Embassy in Washington and as Executive Director of the World Bank representing Mexico, Spain and Venezuela. He also was the Representative for Europe for Mexico’s National Development Bank based in London.

He developed the first Mexican Government web-page in 1995, and founded La Vitrina, a Mexican Internet cultural magazine. Amb. Pinto is currently a member of the Executive Committee of Board of Trustees of El Museo del Barrio in New York and member of the International Board of the Aperture Foundation of Photography. He is a member of the Economic Club.
